I'm not a fan of popular music either. But thankfully YouTube has allowed me to find plenty of recently released albums that I do enjoy. I see. I read the original article. From the rock and metal that you've posted on here it seems like at least that part of your tastes would be pretty ordinary in a more normal musical world that didn't have songs with hooks every fifteen seconds, staccato vocal delivery on choruses and drums done digital on the cheap. Not saying that as a good or a bad thing. I just think that you like straightforward metal and hard rock. I'm sure that there's much I don't know about your tastes but that's what I've seen from things like the new music and rock threads where you've shared albums and songs you like. You are correct in your observations. I do listen to and enjoy some songs from outside my main genre, e.g., this one. But when comes to buying an entire album, I stick to what can be summarized as "traditional heavy metal". But I use " Rock/Metal" in my thread titles, because fans of extreme metal might think, "that's not metal, that's rock." And some bands whose albums I buy, e.g., Haunt, straddle the line between hard rock and heavy metal.
