Found a $20 note on the floor at a Borders book shop. I hastily pocketed it because I saw a couple people approaching — they seemed like they were looking for something they’d lost because they were saying, “where’d you have it last?” and things like that. I just stood there pretending to look at books while I fiddled with their money in my pocket.

$20 in the lint trap of a dryer I was cleaning out. This was when I was a teen and my dad had a job a laundromat. I would go with him to help out.

I cashed a payroll check at work, once, and put $100.00 into a desk drawer AT HOME for later... Yeah, Later. LOL!... I forgot about it, until months later, when I open the drawer and there it was.
But, as for "not my own"... Which, oddly some posters here can't seem to be able to read that part...
I found over 51% of a %10.00 bill on the ground as a kid, took it to the bank, and exchanged it for a new bill!

Nothing really big - mostly coins. I may have found an actual paper bill once or twice, but I'm darned if I can remember from where. Each time, I would pick it up, and put it in my shoe. When I got home, I would put it in my jar of coins. I remember when I worked at BK (Burger King) during the summer. By the coffee station, there would be a little waste pail. Customer would actually throw out pennies! So, of course, I would scoop them up, and put them in my pocket. Not much, but it adds up over time. Joker's Wilde

On 2 separate occasions in my retail days I found $100. First time a customer dropped it in a bin of candy near the register. Next time he was in I asked if he lost some money. He replied “I don’t know. You keep.” (He was Asian and spoke in an accent like that)
2nd time at another store I’m cleaning up at night and find two $50 bills. I pocketed them and told no one. Next day I’m working and talking to a coworker I liked and she told me she was sad because she lost $100 yesterday in the store around where I found it. I gave it back to her. She was grateful and though I didn’t expect a reward or anything I thought she was hot and so I was sad when nothing else came of it.
Another time I was in a casino and the way the slot machines worked, if you won a jackpot over a certain amount it gave you a ticket you could redeem at the cashier rather than dispensing a zillion coins. I found a ticket worth $250 on the floor. I wanted to cash it but was paranoid I’d get in trouble for some reason so I “laundered” it. I put it in a random machine, played one spin on the slots and then cashed it out on a new ticket.

Found 50 bucks on a normally busy street (close to an ATM) but it was the middle of the night so there was no one there.
