That dude rolling down the hill is priceless. Not a golf fan, but I actually attended the US Women's Open in 2004 because how often does a major sporting event happen in the pioneer valley? Anyhoo there were times where I knew I was on camera because I was directly behind the golfer, across from where the camera was stationed. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't notice me even if you were looking for me, not only because I'm a ninja but because I wasn't trying to be seen. These idiots are trying to be seen, those aren't natural reactions. It's a combination of what I mentioned earlier, and mob mentality. They're completely out of control because the event let them get that way. That guy rolling down the hill would've done that no matter who hit the shot, he probably doesn't know who Mickelson is. And these are the grown adults that I am referring to (and the members of the Country Club where I bartended)
And again - to each their own. I have numerous hobbies and interests that others don't get
But I've just always found these people to be fascinating
And I do find them completely different than hockey, baseball, basketball and football fans - as they are behaving this way over an individual (as opposed to a team who may represent your city) who happens to be a grown man when you yourself are a grown man
But whatever makes you happy in life
I've just always been fascinated by them
I don't see the difference. You don't get a free pass for acting like a clown just because you're supporting a team sport.

I don't see the difference. You don't get a free pass for acting like a clown just because you're supporting a team sport. But just my opinion - and my intent is not to offend anybody here or cause a ruckus
So I'll apologize up front if I do
And again to each their own
I'm not talking about acting like a clown.
I'm talking about being a man
In my eyes it's weak to be a grown man and root for another individual grown man who plays an individual sport
Maybe when I was 15 I could see doing that - I guess?

Maybe when I was 15 I could see doing that - I guess? I don't think you're offending anyone because I don't think anyone can make sense of what you're saying. "It's juvenile to root for an individual athlete, it's completely rational to root for an athlete from some other part of the world who happens to play for your city at the moment." It's just weird that the only acceptable sports moments to you are the ones that you perceive as relating to you somehow. It's as if you think you won the title. You didn't. You're just enjoying the effort put forth by another grown man. Maybe when I was 15 I could understand changing my avatar 14 times a day to team logos and "#1", but as a grown man I find it a little silly. I wouldn't do that any more than I would wear a football jersey to the grocery store. But to each their own, there are worse things all of us could be doing.

I am sorry - I do not cheer on another grown man playing an individual sport
I am a grown man myself. That is weak in my eyes.
I guess I'm just not that man. It's OK if you are though. We're all individuals.
That man who roots for other individual grown men who play individual sports
I admire their work and their resume. Appreciate what they can do. Like Tyson and Agassi
But I'm not that guy who will appear on the golf course fist bumping them and bear hugging them lifting them up acting like because they won that somehow I won something.
I root for my teams because they represent my city
Guess I'm just not 'that guy'
As far as avatars go - this is coming from a grown man who has a Star Wars avatar - as a grown man - I find that a little silly and a little childish. Maybe it's time to leave your childhood behind?

I'm not that guy either. Anyway my comment about your avatar wasn't supposed to offend, it was to point out we all have our idiosyncrasies and that's ok. My avatar isn't Star Wars, but I think (?) you knew that.

I thought ReyKahuka was the new black character the new movies revolved around

I like it
Nice
Very hard sport to conquer. I was brutal. Enjoyed chipping and putting but could not drive to save my life. 1 out of every 10 drives would go far and straight. 4 would be ground balls like I was playing baseball - and the other 5 would have a horrid slice
I just don't get the fans
But again to each their own
I left it on as it was pretty much the sports story of the weekend and the course was beautiful - i.e. the surroundings, ocean, blue skies....
You don't conquer golf, golf conquers you 99% of the time. What about the fans? Yep. Casual duffers seem to neglect that 95% of PGA wkend coverage is usually on about 5 guys tops. The rest can be hacking & slashing around a course - golfers have to learn not to to be so hard on themselves - if you're not firing a 68 at the local muni, it's not necessarily because you scuk.

I was absolutely fascinated by the mob of grown adults going wild over and following another grown man from hole to hole........ That to me was the theater
Golf is theater. So is tennis and boxing of course. Would have been so much cooler if he didn't 2 putt at the end.

Bryson is such a child. Pair them together at the Ryder Cup.
