I've never even been to that board. Am I the only one? I go over to it to read the thread titles when there's a big political story going on. Never bother reading the actual posts or trying to engage. People don't even seem to gave political positions. It's all just my team good, other team bad. Now here's a regurgitation of their talking points. |

At the moment, it's pretty toxic over there. I think that a lot of people who were banned after the Capitol Riots are back and it isn't very nice. You just have to learn to stay away when the children are having their little hissy fits.

Politics board isn't a nice place. People there are totally biased to their opinions and spending a lot of time there could seriously affect one's mental health. Please stay here on sports board Jack and don't read the politics board. Sports board is a nice place with some of the relatively more tolerant people of IMDB v2 posting here. Agreed. And I had to learn that through personal experience myself. Since then I’ve seen more people venture over there and then leave IMDB v2.1 altogether, than any other reason by far. It takes a special breed to be a regular over there and keep your sanity. And no offense but some of the people over there are not sane. |

He asked Admin if they could ban him from the Politics board but they said they couldn’t and that’s why he self deleted. Told me in a PM I just read. Hope he doesn’t mind me letting other people know.
That's too bad. I guess he didn't trust his own self-control when it comes to staying away from something that he knows will only upset him.
That's something that I've learned over time. You just can't let things said on SM upset you. It's feckin hard but it's a state that's gotta be reached if you are to remain on it and remain sane. Instead I'll just talk to people who are reasonable (even if their views are in opposition to mine) or know quite well that if I'm gonna engage with a fool I do so with the sole intension of winding them up. It's not pretty and I'm not proud of it but if you feel the irresistible urge to engage with these folk, and some times you do, at least do it on your own terms.

The thing jack needs to learn, 95% of the shit that goes on in he Sports Board is an act. It the past two weeks, I've had very intelligent conversations with three people who you would think to be three of the biggest idiots on the Board. I'm sure they believe in what they believe but they go over the top in expressing it. Yes, there are some true cancers there. But most are just acting up. No one should take that place seriously

People can compartmentalize their political feelings. I had an older woman who worked at one of my accounts. Nicest lady, typical kindly old lady type. Cat lover, baked cookies and birthday cakes for her co-workers, always talking about her grandkids. She worker for me for months before I noticed the bumper sticker on her little puddle jumper car

There was an immediate transformation, She started to babble about Pedophile Pizza (that was the time of PizzaGate), fake school shootings, how Hillary Clinton shouldn't be "locked up", but lynched. Also swearing, up to and including MF and CS. All I could think of was Boopsie in Doonesbury and how she changes into he demon Hunk-Ra, complete with a serpent's tongue. Once the subject was changed, she was back to normal. It really was scary
