Glad you like it. I am not usually a fan of Carnahan, but he handled Boss Level very well. Narc is his best movie imo. Haven’t seen Narc, but I’ve heard good things about it. Your recommendation is an excellent endorsement. I’ve found our taste in movies to be pretty similar. Thank you. I'd guess in general that many people have at least 50-75% in common with each other when it comes to taste in movies. I probably watch more movies than most people though. That is just because I have more time to spend watching movies than most people and have few other interests. If you haven't noticed I don't particular care whether people like or dislike the same movies as me, I just hope I can recommend movies people will like. That is why I am a big fan of polls and lists, because that is the best way to get recommendations.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many great movies have been recommended to me here.

Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 - 6/10 Just seen once, coming out this year. Will probably take a long time until I will see a few more, as there have been very few films, that has got me all that interested and worked up. And sadly, one of the few which did, never impressed me all that much. Just another bland and rather forgettable animated Batman film. Not bad, but knew far too early in, that it was not gonna live up to all the hype surrounding it. But yeah, the part 2, will have to be much better, if I will sit through another one of these animated releases. Well, I guess I can add the Manchester United documentary The United Way and the Liam Neeson thriller, The Marksman to the "impressive" list of class of 2021, and yeah, it might be a while until I will include another one or two in here. The United Way, I thought was the best, or better of the three. Still, none of them had much of the re-watchability factor going.

Judas and the Black Messiah -8/10 Zack Snyder's Justice League -7/10 Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 -7/10 Batman: The Long Halloween Part 2 -7/10 Black Widow -7/10 Old -6/10 Godzilla vs Kong -6/10 Coming 2 America -5/10 F9 -5/10 Tom and Jerry -4/10 Spiral -3/10 Don't Breathe 2 -3/10 Wrong Turn -2/10 I liked The Long Halloween Part 2 and really liked the reveal, but how did you feel about it being that it is different than the comic book? I only learned they changed it, because my brother told me. I have never read that comic book. The only stuff I disliked about the movie is all the villains teaming up with Two-Face, as there is no explanation given for how he was able to find and recruit them all. The Joker seemed to just be thrown in there at the end. Also, are most the similarities that the animated movie has with The Dark Knight in the comic book too?

ZS Justice League, I liked the darker take. 👍
Suicide Squad, pretty decent mindless action movie. 👍 Army of the Dead, brain dead action movie, background noise, meh. Tom and Jerry, didn't work for me. 👎 Safer at Home, zoomers throw a covid party over Zoom and everyone makes the dumbest choices possible. 👎 The Devil Below, awful. 👎 Godzilla vs Kong, decent effects, dumb. 👎

As someone who didn't like Hush's ending, I was okay with it. The comic's is kinda convoluted, and I think the movie just streamlined it. The rogue's gallery teaming up with Two-Face was weird, though. The similarities to TDK are definitely in the comic. That's why "TDK doesn't feel comic booky enough" always struck me as a dumb criticism.

I always thought that was more "It doesn't feel Batman-y enough" due to that is doesn't feel or look like Gotham City. Unlike Batman Begins, The Dark Knight just kind of looks and feels like a big city in reality. They even film scenes at very famous streets in the movie. I have never been bothered by that, but I can understand how some fans might be.

Recently watched. Rosamund Pike gives a standout performance as a women who has senior citizens court ordered to to her care and has them sent to retirement homes, so she can have control of their money. She gets much more than she bargained for with her newest victim, played by Diane Wiest (terrific in her limited screentime). The movie isn't perfect and there are some big missed opportunities, but overall it is an engaging commentary on capitalism and the legal system. I wouldn't go as far as to say it is satire, but it definitely has dark humor. I will warn you that this is a cold and apathetic movie in it's execution, which I think is the point. The movie has a lot of memorable characters who are all awful people. It is visually interesting and has a very good John Carpenter-esque score. 7/10

I think people who say this grew up with the Burton films and assume that's just the standard, but it's rarely THAT exaggerated in the comics I've read. Most writers just treat it like pre-Giuliani NYC with some extra gargoyles. But anyway, it goes further than that. They don't like that's it's basically a crime movie with Batman in it. But like with The Long Halloween, the best Batman comics are just crime stories with Batman. There's a reason it was named "Detective Comics".

Maybe they are just comparing it to other movies and TAS. From what you have read and heard is it just a minor complaint or do they dislike the movie because according to them it is just Heat with Batman? This is one time we are completely on the same page though. I just assumed it was because the comics look more like Batman 1989, but I have only read a few of the comics.

They dislike it, even Heath's Joker for I guess not being silly enough despite the fact that Joker has been a darker character for decades.

It is a big incomprehensible mess.
