I picked "down to 2 or 3." Here are the top three:
Ikiru / Akira Kurosawa (1952) Vertigo / Alfred Hitchcock (1958) 2001: A Space Odyssey / Stanley Kubrick (1968)

Blade Runner.
I once made a definitive list of my favorite 100 films in different genres (drama, action, comedy). I tried to rank them individually but it became too difficult. I could separate a top 25 dramas, but I don't think I could rank them beyond a top 5. It would really be splitting hairs to decide what makes something my 17th favorite film instead of the 18th, but I'd know it was top 25 material.

I have one clear-cut #1 film that I consider the best I’ve ever seen, and that’s Les Enfants du Paradis (1945). I hesitate to call it my favourite because it’s not a movie that I have seen all that many times, or that I would gladly re-watch any day (like I could watch Raiders of the Lost Ark for example).

If I recall, it's not Friday the 13th or A Nightmare on Elm Street. Is it a Tarantino film? Many are surprised its not one of those. I love the those series (obviously) it just not my favorite. I do have Pulp fiction, The hateful Eight and Reservoir Dogs on my top 10. But my all time favorite film is...

It's impossible to have one movie you like more than others.
So no, I don't have a favorite movie. I like hundreds of movies.

Yes, my absolute favorite movie is Colorful from 2010. It's actually quite personal for me and explaining why it means so much to me wouldn't mean anything to others, sorry.

I've also a listed top 50. Like a painting though, I've stepped away from working on it... until about 2029 like a Sight & Sound decade thing.

I have never seen "Les Enfants du Paradis" before, but I have always wanted to. I actually bought the Criterion dvd a couple months ago, but for some reason it looks like an intimidating experience to me. I suppose its the length. What can you say about it that will not give anything major away? Please tell me that it's not boring or very slow and that at the very least its beauty (and I have no doubt that it's a beautiful film) will pull me in almost immediately!
