It's in their own hands, you would think. If Leicester does beat Tottenham on Sunday, goal difference will surely come to favour Liverpool, currently +1 over Leicester.
It was Burnley who ended Liverpool's unbeaten Anfield EPL run of 68 games in January when Ashley Barnes scored the penalty for nothing-one on '83 after being molested on the leg by Alisson in the area. That loss triggered another five consecutive league defeats at Anfield to Brighton, Man City, Everton, Chelsea and Fulham, making six Anfield defeats on the trot. Remarkable, even now, to consider that.

27 year old Will Norris makes his EPL debut for Burnley between the sticks. But this ain't no callow youth with a tube of Clearasil tucked in his sock, he's been around, mostly lower league but no pushover. Wijnaldum is Liverpool captain for the night.
Burnley: Norris, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Brownhill, Westwood, Cork, McNeil, Gudmundsson, Wood. Subs: Barnes, Peacock-Farrell, Rodriguez, Pieters, Vydra, Nartey, Dunne, Richardson, Driscoll-Glennon.
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Rhys Williams, Robertson, Thiago, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Mane. Subs: Milner, Adrian, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Tsimikas, Shaqiri, Origi, Neco Williams, Koumetio.

I think they will. It'll be a remarkable comeback if they do. It's too bad the reigning champs need a "remarkable comeback" in the first place.

Arnold sends one in towards Mane in the area. It's a good pass. Mane half-slides to reach it but his left boot can only hook it wide of his far post for a potentially costly miss early on.

McNeil's low cross sweeps past three Liverpool defenders into the path of Chris Wood, six yards out, but Rhys Williams gets an important touch to half-clear only for Lowton to blaze it over Alisson's bar on 9.

Salah comes down the right flank, knocks one into Mane who back heels it to Firmino but he screws his shot wide on '16. No actual shots on target for the visitors but 5 off.

The game is progressing at a lively pace but has offered up no cut-throat close shaves yet. Burnley with plenty of men behind the ball whenever Liverpool come forward. It's The Dyche Way.

The ball is looped forward on '26 from the halfway line looking for a home. It finds Chris Wood in the area in a man-on-man action with Alisson. It's set up beautifully for Wood but he fires it wide just shaving the side netting. Best chance so far.

At last the home crowd let us know they're there with cries of 'Come on Burnley, come on Burnley'. But now Salah and Firmino combine to set up Thiago but he screws it wide. There's no let-up as Salah streaks through the middle, outrunning his pursuer. He's in the area. The target is huge. But he left-foots it high over the bar.

This is getting beyond silly now... So many decent chances, 7 in just over half an hour for Liverpool.

Free-kick on '37. Arnold. He moves quickly hoping to catch the keeper off his line. Again it comes to nothing. Moments later Woods' parried effort sees McNeill getting a much needed save out of Alisson. Klopp stalks the touchline. The cross comes in now. It falls for Williams who is standing near the penalty spot. He doesn't have much time for foreplay but enough to keep it down and on target surely? No, it sails over.

GOAL! Mane down the left cleverly draws out the Burnley defence then whips in a pass to Robertson who crosses it low to Firmino in the box. He makes no mistake in drilling it home for 0-1 on '43.

Half time. Liverpool go in at 1/10 favourites following Firmino's strike just before the break. Jurgen Klopp dashes across the pitch for the tunnel. A few half-hearted boos from the Burnley faithful but it's not over yet.

The crowd wants a Burnley penalty early into the second portion. Gudmundsson goes down but I didn't see any assault whatsoever. Did he fall over the ball? The ref doesn't want to know and neither does VAR, thank you very much.

GOAL
Robertson takes a poor corner on '52 but the ball comes back to him, he feeds Mane who, after teasing the Burnley defender by doing nothing with the ball for a few seconds, then chips one in towards Phillips who powers it home from close range for nothing-two.

Well, the commentator's going on about Liverpool needing that infernal term 'game management' now with half an hour to go. But this game's Management is standing outside the door of the Turf Moor Discorama wearing Doc Martens' and knuckle-dusters growling 'No entry. Go away'. This game is over. Isn't it?

Again with the 'game management'. So for 60 minutes Liverpool had no game management.

Burnley haven't given up as the clock hits '80. They're giving the crowd something here, if not a goal. Yet.
