I also have Planet of the Apes box set but that was sucky because it's letterbox but not formatted for 16 x 9 so the black bars are part of the image and it is really low res when you watch it on a larger tv.
Like the SW unaltered laserdisk version--they really sucks on a big tv.
That's why so much effort was put into doing an actual HD transfer--they enlisted people who had 35mm prints of the films to get elements for it.
I like the Midnite Movies dvds
and some of them have really good image quality for a big tv.
I have some rare disks that look really good like At the Earth's Core--that dvd has a very sharp picture.

A few days early.
It's cheap but I like it.
I want to watch some Kolchaks--I got the dvd set in 2005 and a lot of them were reported to be glitchy. Mine works.
It is coming to blu-ray this year though.
