......NOT because you've grown tired of them, or just don't like them anymore, but because of a health-related, or other extenuating circumstance, that has forced you to give them up ?? Just recently, out of the clear blue, I started having a strange reaction to something I was drinking or eating, that suddenly caused my lips, or the area around my mouth to swell up for a few hours after ingestion. Because the reaction wasn't immediate, it took me some time to finally figure out it was being caused by the apples I used to love chomping on every once in a while. What's even odder about this allergic reaction I've now (I'm assuming) permanently developed, is the fact that it's only FRESH apples I can no longer have if I don't want my face swelling up like it's been injected with Botox for hours on end......I've discovered that as long as the apples are cooked or baked, for instance in pies or other desserts, I can still eat them with absolutely no problem whatsoever !! Anybody else have any food or drinks you've had to give up, not because you want to, but because you have to ?? SAVE FERRIS

Coffee. I went through a 6 month stretch of cripling insomnia. In March I took two weeks off from work to cure it. I gave up all caffine and I stayed up until 6am and set my alarm for 7:30am. Did that for a few days until I was brutally tired. Then I was ready to fix the sleep schedule. Lights out at 10:30. It all worked. I don't have to take sleeping meds anymore.

mr sunshine can't eat any corn or corn products. Years ago he developed an allergy to corn and anything that used cornstarch. He could do corn syrup but not the others. His lips and eyes would swell until it looked like his lips would burst and he'd been punched in the eyes. You'd be amazed how many things include some type of corn products in their ingredients.
Now we have to be careful with carbs and sweets as we found we're both diabetic. Carbs are the worst. *sigh*

I know some foods affect me adversely, but I'm either stubborn or don't make the connection to what got me.
Can't smoke anything anymore, though, and not talking about food.

No, nothing like that - although as I get older I find that I am no longer able to eat a large evening meal without it seriously affecting my sleep. Which I guess is a good thing, as who needs to have a large evening meal anyway?

Warm milk. A couple of years ago, the corner deli changed it's coffee to one that was a bit strong, so I began adding some milk to it. I noticed that I was a bit queasy for about 1/2 hour, in the morning, but didn't connect it because I'd added milk to coffee in the past, with no problem. Then, I ordered a latte, and had the same reaction. I thought it was a milk/coffee "thing," until I made some cocoa, and it happened, again.
I drink cold milk with no reaction.

Anything containing gluten - not an "allergy", but a true genetic inability to produce the enzymes needed to create the metabolic response to the protein in gluten. Not diagnosed until 12 years ago. So, no wheat or rye breads, pancakes, sandwich rolls, pasta, most desserts such as cakes or pies. Yeah, there's more to life than sweet carbs, but my grandfather was a baker. My father taught me what he knew. I've been baking challah, bagels, and other breads and cakes and such for about 50 years, since I was in high school. I do so miss a good slice of challah toast. And pizza. And pasta.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago. I've drank coffee daily for decades now, and maybe 3 years ago, out of nowhere, I just couldn't sleep. If I had a cup of coffee any time after lunch, I would just be up all night long. And as quickly as that happened, it just went away. I had a big cup of coffee after dinner Friday night and was in bed 2-3 hours later. Very weird.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, Nuts. That'd be harsh for me to handle. I love mushrooms. I love the aroma of them sizzling in a pan of butter, too.

Tea upsets my stomach these last few years for some reason. Very disappointing. I used to love it.
