Angers have just pulled a goal back in injury time to make it 1-2. If Lille hold on then they are champions.

It’s all over, Lille win title by one point from PSG. Quite happy to see them win. Just learnt their correct pronunciation today.

Losc Lille winning Ligue 1 a far greater achievement than Leicester winning the Premier League in 2015/16. Thoroughly deserved for such a likeable club, manager, players, city and fans. Let the plundering of the squad begin...

Lille were 65/1 to win the title at the start of the season.
Leicester City were 5000/1 when they won the EPL.
Leicester winning the league was as close to a miracle I’ve ever seen in sport.
Lille winning Ligue Un today … wouldn’t make my top 500 upsets.

Lille winning Ligue Un today … wouldn’t make my top 500 upsets. They've also won three previous league titles, one as recently as 2010 and were runners up two years ago. As far as upsets go, I put any type of unexpected league win pretty high, just for the sheer improbability of a middling team outperforming a giant club over a 38 game season. Liecester though was another level. They weren't a middling team: they were barely surviving in the league.

What price were PSG to win Ligue 1? 1/10? 1/20? 1/33? How about the disparity in budgets of PSG and Lille? Half a billion?
Three seasons ago, under Bielsa btw for the majority of the Ligue 1 campaign, Lille finished 18th, avoided relegation on the last day of the season under Christophe Galtier.

A compelling argument.
Was there a 1/33 shot/side/team running when Leicester won the league in 2015/16???

A compelling argument. Was there a 1/33 shot/side/team running when Leicester won the league in 2015/16??? That argument is specious. They were deemed 70 times less likely to win the league than Lille were. That’s all that matters. The big six would have been shorter than 19-1 on (PSG’s actual odds on 29/7/20.) No one will agree with you that Lille’s feat was more impressive.

Ligue 1 title odds: 2020/21 season (via SBK)
PSG: 92.59% Lyon: 6.90% Marseille: 5.56% Lille: 3.33% Monaco: 2.78% Nice: 2.00% Rennes: 1.82%
If you take the relative odds of the field, the above is the actual percentage of probability of winning Ligue 1 last season.

Manager Christophe Galtier just announced he has resigned from Lille, he won't be short of offers, both Nice and Lyon want him. First of the player exodus has begun, with goalkeeper Mike Maignon off to AC Milan.
I'll be following L'Orient next season...
