Nah, he had a high-pitched tenor singing voice. The change in voice probably came naturally or from stress after years of entertaining.

Newton looked like a lesbian when he was young. Now he looks female-to-male transgender. Hormones allowed him to finally grow facial hair.
Rumors were that he was like the castrati in the Vatican Choir - castrated before puberty by his parents to maintain his falsetto.
k.d lang looks more masculine than him. I once saw a photo of him sitting down on a chair. I couldn't notice any bulge. He's definitely a female.

k.d. lang is more masculine than most truck drivers.
RuPaul once said that she, k.d lang, looked like a "hot guy". I guess he's right. His 6' 7" husband is way hotter, though.
