There are so many better actors suited for this role that I'm completely boggled why they'd cast someone already in the MCU. You're aware that Aaron Johnson's Quicksilver is absolutely dead, right?

Are these Spidey villain solo movies connected to the MCU at all?

The MCU already has the same actors playing multiple roles (Gemma Chan and Michelle Yeoh for example), so it doesn't matter.

Especially for characters that aren't under a whole lot of makeup. It will eventually become confusing. Besides, it's not like there's a shortage of actors out there.

The rest aren't yet but that doesn't mean they won't be. All it takes is for one of them to share a movie with Tom Holland's Spiderman and that will automatically make them part of the MCU.

I doubt Marvel themselves would ever consider the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (yes, that’s the official name) to be in the MCU, even if they were to have Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in one of their movies. In the event that something like that happens, the Sony Marvel movies would essentially just be corporate fan fiction.

I think you're confusing what we mean by being in the same universe with being in the same company. Majority of audiences will never dive into the nitty gritty details like we do, but majority of audiences will start noticing if the same actors keep getting reused for different superhero roles. Especially once they start appearing in the same continuous storyline (which is what we mean by being in the same universe). We're not quite there yet, but let's not pretend this isn't an issue if we ever go there.
