Now that I want to look at a set of asses or anything, but is there any video or picture evidence of Moss' story? I don't necessarily think he's lying but yeah, fans mooning players is something I've never heard of. lol...
I have no reason not to believe him. Would you put mooning out of the realm of possibility for drunken football fans before a rivalry game? The Moss moon should be the subject of a documentary. It really wasn't a big deal. Pretending to pull your pants down is a far cry from actually doing it, or say simulating masturbation to the crowd or something. A disgusting act? I have a few thoughts as to why people made a big deal about this. (And I won't even get into race.) 1. It's Randy Moss. If Gronk does this today, everyone chuckles and rolls their eyes, that goofball party boy Gronk. Randy Moss was already seen as an arrogant asshole, so people were going to find anything he did distasteful-- especially if he does it at the expense of one of the most storied franchises in the sport, with an enormous national fanbase. 2. Joe Buck's reaction. I like Joe Buck, but I feel like he's largely responsible for the negative reaction to that celebration by his own overreaction on live tv. It was such a dumb, throwaway celebration that I'm not entirely sure most people would've even understood what Moss was doing. Buck framed the conversation instantly and it took on its own life from there. Notice Collinsworth just kind of laughs it off. Would we even be having this discussion if Buck went along with him? Buck inexplicably goes on a rant about how embarrassing that was to have on the air. Get a grip, Joe. Personally the TO celebration was much more offensive in my opinion, because as I stated earlier in the thread, the guy sprinted to midfield to make a spectacle of himself as opposed to Moss throwing shade back at the fans. I wouldn't be caught dead doing either of those celebrations, but I've never understood the furor surrounding the Moss celebration, other than the voice the audience is accustomed to listening to for commentary and analysis told them it was morally reprehensible, and they already didn't like the guy who was celebrating in the first place.

I don't think I want to get into a long discussion on this. But I will say, hypotheticals are hard to prove, and Moss probably is on the arrogant side. Hell, I just watched parts of that Cam Newton self-interview after he got got cut by the Patriots. Not only is he arrogant but he's a complete idiot. But that's okay, I'm not a very judgmental person when it comes to the intelligence levels of pro athletes or anyone else for that matter. This probably stems from the experiences I've had with mentally challenged people.
Anyhow... this is going somewhat off topic...
Moss' (and maybe Cam Newton's as well) personality probably makes him seem arrogant but I don't know the guy personally. I just don't think it was a good idea to pretend to take your pants down in front of 10 million people. lol
No one watching the game is going to know why he did this, unless they're the ones that mooned him before the game. It was just very strange at the time. Buck's reaction was a little over the top but then again, we've never seen a football player do something like that.
I'm on the fence, Moss did a weird thing but surely, we've all seen displays of human behavior that were much worse.

He made a motion to moon the crowd. Complete overreaction. That being said, in general I find a lot of the carry on in most celebrations to be excessive - but not necessarily disrespectful. Players from Special Teams are the worst. Celebrating a basic tackle off a punt return like a sack on 4th and 1 in the 4th Quarter is a bit much…..

I remember Joe Bucks name only because of the Moss incident. I remember thinking back then how much he was overreacting.

Actually, Buck still does commentary but he's just a media head, he doesn't really know that much about football. Although, he's probably learned a lot about it from watching it for so many years. But last night on the Eli and Peyton broadcast of Monday Night Football, Peyton said Buck doesn't know anything about defensive coverages.
Damn... I was laughing so hard when Peyton said this.
