So this would be those albums from when "psychedelic" music was initially a musical term, or in other words from around the mid 1960s to very early 1970s. These are my 5 favorites, of course it's all a subjective opinion....
1. Strange Days, The Doors 1967
2. Disraeli Gears, Cream 1968
3. Axis:Bold as Love, Jimi Hendrix Experience 1967 UK, 1968 USA
4. Magical Mystery Tour, The Beatles 1967
5. Twelve Dreams of Dr Sardonicus, Spirit 1970

No-one gone for Loves's "Forever Changes"? Would have thought that was a cert for No.1.

My interpretation is that Psychedelic music, aka Acid Rock, is generally experimental, uses unusual musical features, and attempts to expand beyond the more common boundaries of Pop, Rock, Metal, and Soul music of the period. In that way, I would consider the Temptation's Cloud Nine, Psychedelic Shack as such, the Chambers Bros Time as such, Beach Boys Good Vibrations, Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride, Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love (long version), etc. In albums, the Vanilla Fudge's 2nd album release, The Beat Goes On, would definitely qualify as Psychedelic more so than any of their others. It deserves an honorable mention, though I prefer Renaissance for listening pleasure. This might be tough listening for some, but it's short.

Yeah, there are a bunch on the thread I wouldn't consider.
