I think Santana Garrett was released too. I read that Vince McMahon's intent on cleaning house to preserve his record takings bolstered by special deals, overseas interest and sales of merchandise.
Jim Cornette pondered whether WWE could be sold to Disney to create a new universe to rival Marvel. Their films would be a natural extension of WWE productions done on superbudgets, theme parks are a given and the organisation's made a big push these last few years towards cleaning up their product for the youth market. They've also been stripping back their characters' motivations and stripping down their move sets to seal brand identities along clearer lines which might be a smart move on the McMahon family's part.
