He is a great fighter in his future self. How good is in Thor or the Avengers? Prior, he depends upon Gungnir or his spectre loaded up with an Infinity Stone for the big magic. I daresay his horned tiara gives him some power as well. Loki does admit to Möbius he is mostly magic bravado to hide his weaknesses. He had his best fights in Thor and Avengers. He gave Thor a fight in both the first Thor movie and Avengers. He used his spear mostly as a melee weapon and didn't depend on its powers like you said. In Avengers he beat up Captain America in a purely physical fight. And while he used his scepter to mind control a few SHIELD agents, he still used mostly physical attacks to take them out. And again in Avengers, he caught Hawkeye's arrow in mid air without looking, got hit by a shoulder tackle from Hulk and immediately got back up, took a grenade to the face without injury, and was completely bulletproof. But he still has his magical accoutrements along with his clothes before he zaps away with the Tesseract or this Loki is not the same Loki. And ye of little faith, there’s two more episodes to go.

I never said Loki is a purely physical fighter. My point was that even as a purely physical fighter he was pretty beastly. His clothes don't provide him any magical assistance as far as we can tell. And yeah, we only have 2 more episodes left in a 6 episode series. And for 2/3 of that series he's been portrayed as a pretty underwhelming fighter, completely contradicting his movie version.

This could be a part of a Loki’s plans. Maybe, but it certainly contradicts with how his character has been portrayed in the movies. Here's a quick reminder of how Loki fought even when he wanted to intentionally get captured. And his performance here is such a far cry from his petty fight performance in this show. He's supposed to be conniving and mischievous but he doesn't allow himself to look like a complete clown if he could help it. He has too much pride for that. Or at least he was supposed to.

And we keep forgetting he’s a vicious murderer too.

Ok so, I found ep5 a lot more enjoyable than ep3 and 4. I'm still pretty miffed with their defanged, wussified version of Loki and I still think the writing is pretty shaky, but at least this episode has gotten me interested in this show again. The only thing that worries me is that we only have 1 episode left, and it feels like this show hasn't really covered that much ground to already be in the finale.
But oh well, we'll see. Hopefully this gives us a better finale than Wandavision.

It might be worth pointing out that unlike WandaVision or F&WS, this show is getting a second season, so they wouldn’t necessarily need to wrap up everything by episode 6.

Still think that the writing for this series is ridiculously slow and could have been done way more efficiently.

I know I'm very late to the party but... Watched the first 5 episodes. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? ?? I thought time travel created ramifications and time variants. Right? So what about all those different, vastly different LOKIS? Alternate dimensions? It's totally out of the original concept. Please, could someone explain me what's going on? Is the TVA a multidimensional Police? ? So it's not about time travel at all, not the way we think about it.

Yay, the majority of an episode revolving around people sitting around a desk and talking. How exciting.
