It's a troll infested cesspool.

That usually depends on the videos.

That usually depends on the videos. Not true. Even "normal" videos are dominated by trolls.

All I know is that the channels I follow don't appear to have many (if any) troll comments but perhaps the subjects I like don't attract the attention of those people.

I just have never seen that. So for example I looked at a rather mainstream song, Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody", and here are the first comments: I've seen many people make the same comment as you. But I honestly have never seen it.
Are you trolling?

Are you trolling? Why would I be trolling? I didn't mean litreally that every comment is a troll comment. Most videos I've seen have a toxic troll comment section. It's really cringe.

Little kids who think posting the exact same jokes over and over is hilarious, then feeling the need to say thank you when it gets over 100 likes as if a YouTube comment is their life's greatest success. Get off my lawn.

Unless it's for a job or a class, not reading something you don't want to read is literally one of the easiest things to do.

I usually don’t even read the comments if I can help it. I’d rather move on to another video, except lately I haven’t been using YouTube much because the ads (which my blocker is not blocking) are annoying and off-putting.

The first comment on this video is someone saying that they had to watch an advert before being able to watch a video telling them how to block adverts.

I would never use that joke, but seeing other people use it never gets old for me.
