It's happened in the comics, it isn't like they're making some kind of statement.

I hope this isn't going to be another agenda pusher like Falcon and the Winter Solider was.

As long as it's not handled as heavy-handedly as TFATWS was then it should be fine. That said, can sex actually be fluid? I thought it was gender that could be fluid?

If you go all the way back to the thousands year old cultural myths, Loki's sex has always been fluid in that he can both father and mother offspring. Notice that it is his "sex" listed as fluid and not "gender." Therefore, Loki is what is known as in many myths an aeon both, which are both male and female and they can have children via parthenogenesis. Also, he's not a human being, so we have no idea what his DNA is. Rather than XY, he could be ZC.

Yes, among mythical creatures found in many cultures, they're called hermaphrodites. Hermaphrodites are different from sex fluid. Sex fluid implies that you can switch from being one sex to the other, where you can go from being fully male to being fully female and everything in between, whereas a hermaphrodite is someone born with both male and female genitalia, and they can't exactly swing from being one or the other.

Loki takes on a female form for long stretches in the comics. She’s pretty hot too.

Please keep in mind we are talking about a mythical creature, not a human being. Loki is a mythical hermaphrodite and can be both sexes at once. And consider that in most myths, there is either a single male or female from which all life springs. In that sense, Yahweh is the mother of all the living, though the Catholic Church has farmed out the avatar to the Virgin Mary.

A scene from the Dark Avengers days...can’t remember what the group called themselves but they were the Anti Illuminati and the comic seemed to show a potential future where Doom eliminated the others and took Loki and Emma Frost as his slaves. abload.de/img/7brjq7.jpg

Just because he can turn into a woman doesnt mean he is one For example, if I had the ability to suddenly walk through walls and I can choose to use it or not, does that make me a ghost now?

He did give birth to Odin's steed. I guess when he transforms, it goes down to the biological level too. What was the reason for that?

In Norse mythology Loki transforms himself into a female horse to lure a frost giant's steed away and mates with them, giving birth to Sleipnir. This was adapted into Marvel comics, but not for the Marvel Cinematic Universe which also changed his fatherhood of Hela into brotherhood - She as well as the giant wolf that follows her around in the Ragnarok film is in mythology Loki's children. Loki also has two brides as well, one in Asgard the other in his native land.

Change to brotherhood is news though
