I would probably enjoy “The Arsenal Stadium Mystery”. I’ll see if I can find it somewhere.

Seen two Loved The Damned United Hated Escape to Victory I watched "Escape to Victory" in honour of Pelé's 80th birthday last year. I had seen decades earlier and I remembered enjoying it then, but this time I didn't like it very much. Stallone ruined it for me. Still, I wouldn't say that I hated it.

three reasons
1. Stallone 2. Yeah, if I was a POW, playing in a rigged game with a Nazi ref and a chance to escape, I'd go back.
And I did like it when it came out. One of those thing that entertained me when I was a kid and does not now. I thought Smokey and the Bandit was the funniest movie ever.

Yeah, the change of plans during half-time made no sense at all - especially since they were trailing by what? 3 to nil? If they were ahead or if it had been a close match, I might find it believable that they would choose to stay and win the game, for the symbolism of it, regardless of the consequences. As it was, it was a really stupid decision.

I might have found it reasonable if the referee wasn't an obvious Nazi. With a crooked ref and a keeper with 15 minutes experience, how the hell could you expect to win? Not to mention putting the French resistance in danger for no reason.

People should watch the ESPN 30 for 30 Soccer Stories series. It has some of the most amazing soccer documentaries. The one that blew my mind is the one on Hillsborough incident. The Two Escobar, not part of the Soccer Story, was very fascinating. In terms of theatrical film. I think Gregory's Girl is my favorite. I did not care for that much for Bend It Like Beckham. The characters in it are a bit annoying, that I thought. At that time, they talk about it as a girl power movie. If they want to a girl power movie from around that the time that is also excellent and inspiring not only to girls but to everyone, they should see Whale Rider.

Some local ones
The Club Australian Rules (about a footy team in an outback town that's the only thing holding the place together) The Australian Dream (or the Fifth Quarter, but the one Goodes was actually involved in was so much less preachy) The Final Winter (very simplistic sermon on commercialisation of sport) The Merger (Mighty Ducks for grown ups) Year of the Dogs (doco about the Western Bulldogs disastrous 1996 season where they went 5-17, faced bankruptcy and a club legend died) Collingwood: Inside Out (one of the most exhaustive examinations of a club I've ever seen, Buckley's exit interview with veteran Jarryd Blair where he tells him his career is over is brutal)
And the definitive Rugby entry This Sporting Life
