Playing a corpse or a mannequin is sometimes harder than it looks, and sometimes actors called upon to play dead or pose as a mannequin have some difficulties. In the 1933 film The Mystery of the Wax Museum, for example, the wax figures are played by live people, and some of them give themselves away--most obviously, the woman playing the wax Queen Victoria; in one scene, she can be seen repeatedly blinking. Other instances of this--corpses moving their eyeballs under closed lids, breathing, etc.?

I forgot which movie it was that a dead person was breathing. Was it Kate Winslet in Quills? I don't remember.

It's extremely difficult and nice of you to note. There's countless moments of actors blinking in low budget movies, or moving slightly.
The greatest I ever saw was Pamela Gidley in David Lynch's 'Twin Peaks : Fire Walk With Me'. She had exceptional control and ability which she exhibited in a number of difficult physical roles, yet always imbued her roles with character.

There's one movie I saw where the corpse's arm moved around. I wish I could remember what it was.
I know one--SHOCK WAVES 1977--they pull a body from the water and the guy starts to lift his head just as the scene ends.

Since I never seen this masterpiece myself, it's so called heresay, all wax figures can't stand still.
