Glasgow out, torn UCL. Potential season edner here. May need Tommy John.
Ugh. You hate to see so much young talent get hurt.

Scherzer now on IL. Wow, the injuries are stacking up. Especially to starting pitchers.

Striking out the side.
I don't know why it's an accomplishment to give up 4 runs and have all your outs be strikeouts. To me, that's not striking out the side.
Striking out the side should be 3 batters faced and they all strike out. The side is every batter who faces you. So if a guy reaches on a strikeout, you need to strike out 4.

Fishies/Cards about to start - Marlins are plagues by injuries right now, Corey Dickerson, Brian Anderson, Garrett Cooper, Miguel Rojas all out injured, as a result we are having trouble scoring. Trevor Rogers on the mound tonight and he’s been excellent this season, hopefully we can get a win tonight.

Goddamn it, Goldy with a walk off dinger and the Cards beat the Fish. Another great outing from Rogers wasted by a lousy offensive showing. Fuck fuck fuck fuck.

Down 7-0 at one point, and down 3 runs in the 8th, the Giants win on a Mike Yastrzemski grand slam splash hit in McCovey cove as the Giants beat Arizona 9-8.
As great as that was, and as good as the Giants keep playing, I gotta make note that the Diamondbacks have lost 21 straight road games, one short of the record held by the 1946 Kansas City Athletics and the 1963 Mets.
Damn, if you're sharing a record with the early 60's Mets, you're doing something very wrong.

Let's talk about Kevin Pillar. I've seen Pillar play here and there throughout his career, but never every day. He always struck me as a prototypical 4th outfielder - all glove, enough offense to justify getting 400 ABs or so throughout the year.
Then he comes to the Mets and, given their insane spate of injuries, he has been thrust into an everyday role. While his range is diminished since his Blue Jay Way days and his offense is about what I expected, his leadership and toughness are really shining through and have helped to bring the team to where they are right now. He's the type of guy that every team needs and wishes they had. A natural clubhouse leader who hustles 100% of the time, will play whenever, wherever the team needs him.
After that beaning a few weeks ago, his presser the following day really drove it all home. That was one of the worst beanings I have ever seen and the grace and professionalism he showed in discussing the incident with the media less than 24 hours later is what all professional athletes should strive for. Specifically, he talked about Jacob Webb and admitted that he felt bad for him. That's a pro's pro.
But the real kicker - when he comes up to bat, he comes out to Fat Bottomed Girls. Hell yeah, Pillar gets it. He can play on my team any day.
For those who haven't seen the aforementioned presser, it's worth the watch:

To be fair, it's not Montoyo's fault, the Jays bullpen actually does suck.
