Turkey (4-1-4-1): Cakir; Celik, Ayhan, Soyuncu, Meras; Yokuslu; Under, Karaman, Tufan, Calhanoglu; Yilmaz.
Wales (4-3-2-1): Ward; C. Roberts, Mepham, Rodon, B. Davies; Allen, Morrell; Bale, Ramsey, James; Moore.
Ref Arthur Dias - Portugal
Two changes for Turkey. Unchanged Welsh side. The book can hardly separate them, with Turkey 9/5 and Wales 7/4 which by my reckoning is just under 3 cents in the buck in Turkey's favour.
Title odds : Turkey 80/1 Wales 150/1

Do or die for Turkey. One loss. minus three goal difference. Wales have a point. They could go a long way to the knockouts with a win.
Wales just had a great shot on target. Was blocked.

Ramsey on '8 with a first-class chance close to goal after being nourished by Bale. He can square it but instead takes two or three touches himself to fire it near post only for the save by Cakir. Straight up the other end and Yilmaz has a crack which goes just wide. At least you've got a bit of atmosphere here today as opposed to the funeral gathering that was Switzerland.

All Wales so far. They should have scored by now.

Drama in the box on '17. Wales want hands. It was a goalmouth scramble and Welsh appeals went up for an alleged offence by Soyunchu. The ball seemed too close in its flight for any other outcome but to deflect off his elbow. VAR is having a look at it...
The Welsh say yes...the man from Del Monte, he say NO. Play on.

James hares down the left flank on '20. There's no one in a red shirt on him. His cross is met by Soyunchu and for a moment it looks like he's doing a Hummels but on this occasion the keeper is there to save things. Then Ramsey has time and space to line up a strike from just outside the area. He doesn't take it well - there's power but too much flight and over the bar it sails. These potless early chances could come back to haunt them, you have to say.

Are Wales going to get done by the set-piece? Two quick corners there and both had to be cleared off the line (although the first was just wide of the post) as the half-hour passes.

GOAL
Third time's a charm for Aaron Ramsey as, out of nowhere, he is fed a luscious floating ball from Bale, takes a controlling touch and slots it away from inside the area on '43.

It's half time and nothing-one Wales. Not sure I can put up with Robbie Savage for the second half, so all contributions welcome.

Ref Arthur Dias gets the second portion underway. It's pictures only for me and with the help of subtitles and Barry Glendenning's MBM text we will get through this. Tried Radio Wales for audio but their first half highlights replay was awful. Yes, Robbie Savage really is that much of a co-commentating tit. What a f***ing joke. Here we go. See my post above.

Here's a chance for Turkey. The ball is looped into the area, it's coming down to #22. He tries to hook in a volley, he's inside the six yard box and most definitely not offside. Oh, he sends it miles over the bar with the goal a-begging. What a chance. Ayhan. It was Ayhan.
F*** it - come on Turkey. Give us a game.

PENALTY WALES
Bale upended by Burak, was it? VAR checks for latitudes. Inside the box.
Bale himself will take. He stands confidently off the spot. He steps up purposefully. He gives himself purchase with an outstretched right arm as he strikes. Oh dear, he's blazed it over the bar, out of the stadium and somewhere into the far reaches of the Boyukshor Lake.

Why do people fuck about taking penalties. Just run and hit it hard, no need for stuttery runs and attempts to look clever

Set play for Russia in the 87th minute almost equalizes. Wales haven't done well on set plays.
