I assume this topics means, because of how good it was. Not like, because it was sad or something. That's how I take this question. Actually i cried when i saw the trailer for the phantom menace cuz it looked so amazing. Then i had to cry at the end of it, because episode I was so amazing.

great love and of tragic sadness - The Painted Veil (2006)
And another I watched awhile ago , but was deeply moving and shook me - A Private War (2018)

Because it was effectively emotional. If a film hits my emotions while also managing to be dumb I end up making a strange noise that’s halfway between crying and laughing.

St. Elmo's Fire. When the gang graduated from college, and realized they had to put the bar behind them.
FIRST time was E.T. Father, mother and I saw it in the theatre. I was 7 or 8 at the time.
I don't remember the movie - all I remember was at the end of the movie - I just BAWLED my eyes out. Must have been for a good half hour after the movie. Can't remember if I was the only one doing this, though.
About a month later, family was in London, ON. It was announced that E.T. was playing. Turns out I must have loved the movie because I wanted to see it again!
Unfortunately, it was sold out. Oh well.

'Hachi: A Dog's Tale.' I usually don't cry over movies and cry more over novels but that is one of the few that has really made me cry even re-watching it all these years later.
