I fail to see why we can't accept that people from different generations will have had different viewpoints from those we have now. It will have been difficult NOT to have had "imperialist sentiments" growing up in a colonial fashion.
Quite ridiculous.

To expect people of the past to have the same morals and think the same way as we have today is stupid.
There are exception but generally you can`t judge a people of the past based on the morals of 2021.

It's funny they quote Orwell in there since he was the one who said you destroy a people by erasing their understanding of their own history.
These little notes they add are intended to browbeat one into repudiating the past.
Give an inch, take a foot.
It won't be the end of it because there is no stopping of this kind of hostility directed at Europeans.
In 1960 no one would have imagined that the English would be told that their heritage is evil.
Now you have it.
