What classics did you see last week, June 13 to June 19?

This was a pleasant surprise when I first saw it. A lot better than it probably gets credit. It’s an interesting time capsule (especially pre-dating Paul Schrader’s Hardcore) and lead actor Jim Mitchum gives a rock solid performance. A strong supporting cast and on-location shooting help shaped the plot. While visually it packs a punch when came to the violence, still the human drama of its story is raw and effective. Obviously low-budget, however it never felt cheap with the way it handled the thrills or storytelling.
