I talked to another Chinese landlord and they asked what if my "western" boyfriend doesn't understand their language, way of living etc. That place was too expensive anyway and full of messy men. The couple I ended up renting from had southern Chinese accents and spoke to each other in non-Mandarin, possibly Cantonese. The ad was taken down so I see they're serious about taking me. The western-influenced areas of the Chinese-speaking world are less racist. How Chinese react to Russians:
