Lol. Maybe they should trade Simmons to the Harlem Globetrotters. Does that team even have to shoot free throws? If Doc Rivers keeps Simmons he’s just asking to get fired all over again. The Globetrotters don't want him. You have to be able to make undefended trick shots on that team, Simmons can't even make a regular three pointer when he's wide open.

He's getting some defenders in the media in Oz, but not from people who understand the game. Most who follow basketball here see him as a total wanker because he refuses to play for the national team. If you're not winning and you're not playing for the Boomers you might as well be Kyrie Irving.

Simmons for Dame or Beal? I think I would consider that deal if the Sixers could also add a front court piece to complement Embiid?

Sort of the equivalent of saying that you thought about dating a supermodel but in the end, you decided not to pursue it.

Previously Beal when the season was still going after the failed Harden trade and now more so Dame
But rumors have us giving up Ben, #1 picks and 'Tisse/Maxey - no thanks
I'd entertain Tobias, #1 Picks and 1 of Maxey/'Tisse (not both)
Dame is going to be 31 in 5 days and apparently wants out of Portland depending on who you listen to/read

You don't go out of your way to trade 'THAT'

They had the right idea with the Markelle Fultz pick
The answer is to put a Combo Guard next to Ben who can handle the ball in the halfcourt game and let Ben handle in transition
Markelle was supposed to be the final piece of The Process
If he came 1/2 of what he was billed as - we'd have multiple chips right now
The problem is - he came nothing as advertised for a consensus #1 pick
They've failed to put an above average Combo Guard with Ben in the Starting 5
You get that piece (was hoping it was Shake) - problem solved. Perhaps Maxey grows into that roll if he improves his outside shooting
I'd love to see Dame paired with Jo-Jo and Ben - would take Tobie, multiple 1s and one if not both of Maxey/'Tisse

But we've moved into an era where the traditional PG is expected to shoot and score now and is not just a 'little pg dribbler goofball' - i.e. - see Steph, The Beard, Dame, CP3
Ben is unwilling to shoot at this point and for somebody that is handling the ball as much as he does - teams either collapse off him during halfcourt sets daring him to shoot (in turn sagging off of him then clogging the lane and disrupting other scoring opportunities and focusing on the other 4 players) or then attack and foul as we saw during the playoffs with 'Hack-A-Ben'
Answer is a Combo Guard who can both handle the ball but shoot as well to alleviate some pressure off of Ben
Need to surround Ben with not only shooters but there needs to be another ball handler (who can shoot) on the court
Doc even doesn't refer to him as a PG (we've moved into positionless ball) - Doc refers to him as a 'facilitator' - but Ben is playing the traditional '1' since he's handling the ball most of the time. He needs to be more of a 'Point Forward' with a Combo Guard running next to him. He's got Seth running with him - but Seth is more of a traditional '2' and a shooter
Danny Green just obliterated Philly Fans - so I question if he'll be back - but I'd love to see them switch it up with -
1 - Maxey 2 - Curry 3 - Tobie (Tobie gets obliterated at times though on defense by quicker wings on the perimeter when he plays the '3' depending on matchups)
4 - Ben 5 - Embiid
Hopefully Maxey's (PG now) shot keeps improving and he can turn into that Combo Guard I was hoping for (i.e. - hopefully he can play more of the traditional '2' in the future and not just the '1') - was hoping it was Shake but Shake appears to me more of one of the first guys off the bench right now

Fultz is very inconsistent and injury prone. Some Orlando Magic fans think they got a steal. But he could wind up being the next Greg Odom if nothing changes. |
