2011
I like both, but I think Fincher's has a better atmosphere to it, with the Reznor/Ross score being a big part of that.

I am all in for the 2009. Further, I like the six-part mini-series shown in Sweden after the release of the movies, just called "Millennium." They are expanded editions with material formally deleted for the theatrical release. That is the best way to see it. The American release is pretty much useless. It has none of the impact of the Swedish originals. It is basically for the "I don't like to read subtitles" crowd. I'm Mooney for Noomi.

They're both very good. The 2011 remake was one of the most unnecessary, superfluous remakes I've ever seen of a film I didn't think needed it at all. It was so soon after the original, yet I think it's one of David Fincher's best movies. Rooney Mara was incredible, Daniel Craig is standard (which is good)...
Its arrival after the original so soon throws me to this day, but I also think it's better. Just a tad. Rooney Mara could have retired off that movie if it's the only movie she ever did.

I'm not sure, never seen either. The title kinda put me off watching them. A girl with a tattoo? Not in my house.

I prefer the original Swedish version, it's less stylized but more atmospheric and I prefer Noomi Rapace to Rooney Mara.
