Wasn't this a common occurrence in Spaghetti Westerns?
For e.g in the Dollars trilogy, Gian Maria Volonte and Lee Van Cleef play different characters.
In Django Unchained, James Remar played Ace Speck and Butch Pooch.

He actually had three roles...Sherpa and Nazi in Raiders and a Thugee in Temple Of Doom And this guy - Hitler! That's Michael Sheard. Best known in the UK as Mr Bronson in Grange Hill. He played Hitler a number of times He has appeared in three Harrison Ford Franchises...Star Wars, Indiana Jones (two different roles) and Force 10 From Navarone (if that can count as a franchise)
