Also, what do you call the end pieces? Heels? Butts? End pieces?

I've been trying to keep away from bread, but I'm good with end pieces.
It's very dependent on the bread though. With good baguette or any real whole loaf I prefer the end, but with one of these cheapo pre-sliced deals they're clearly not as good as the other pieces.

I used to not eat them. Now I do and even though I’m picky AF they taste the same to me.

Unless they are real thin, I eat them.

Also, what do you call the end pieces? Heels? Butts? End pieces? Scherzerl (comes from the Itlaian word scorza - "crust")

I buy proper bread instead of packaged supermarket bread probably 7 out of 10 times. With proper bread, it is rare that I wouldn't eat the entire loaf including the ends. When I do buy packaged bread, more often than not I don't finish it, and just throw out the last few slices including the end piece. The first slice I always eat.

I've made some of my PB&J sandwiches with that last slice.

Don't mind them, but eat them last, typically as a top to a sandwich. They sort of protect the rest of the bread.

I like dunking them in beef stew, but otherwise, them for ducks.

I call them heels.
Been ages since I ate one though. I remember them being good for using in toasted cheese.

Don't waste. They still work great in a ham and grilled sandwich.
