I like to do spareribs on the 4th, whether I'm going to a gathering, or not. This year, it's "not." But, I'm still looking forward to it.
It's one of the days that I allow myself to enjoy my sin-of-choice ... a bag of potato chips! I'll munch those throughout the day.

Probably nothing special. We use to have a big family picnic every year on the 4th, complete with a big fireworks display, but no family left living close, except my Mom. She use to do most of the cooking, but everyone else brought something too. Miss the homemade ice cream!! She has dementia now and my dad is gone. Brother and sister don't live close and neither do their kids/grandkids.

We have several invitations to cookouts,most seemingly to be cancelled by rainy forecast.However today's weather is calling for clear skies on the 4th so we'll plan on which one we'll attend....after we find out who is doing what.
If not we'll probably get some takeout from whatever is open.
OT: not 4th related but foodish.
The Mrs has a longstanding belief that Dominoes is the only pizza worth eating...(ewwwww).
A week or so ago she had me order her a pie which they royally screwed up.Grossly overcooked and took close to 90 minutes to deliver.They knew they screwed up so they offered us a free medium 2 topping pie....which they also screwed up.
So they offered another half off pie....and she said she would never eat a Dominoes pie again.
Only time will tell............

It's been crap for a while now. But it sufficed when we would have pizza delivered at work. |

I finally just put the coals on.
Lunch was almond butter on rice crackers.
Update totally pigged out. 3/4 of my burger slipped off the edge of the grate, but I was able to rescue most. I don't mind a small amount of grit. Had it with a portobello, grilled onion and grilled garlic. Delicious.
Also had 3 chicken legs, and a whole bunch more grilled vegetables, from red and yellow and jalapeno peppers to tomatoes.

I was visiting my dad and his family, and they ended up ... boiling some hot dogs. Also, fireworks are banned in his state. Good times.
