Roger Ebert - "I have yet to meet anyone who likes Ghostbusters II at all." Times Have certainly changed.

I didn’t particularly care for Ghostbusters II when I saw it in ‘89 but there are plenty of films from that year which are worse.

There’s stuff I liked in Ghostbusters II. Next of Kin is pretty dumb. No mention of Second Sight?

I’m with Ebert on this, but I haven’t watched it since 1989, and it’s so much more popular now (to moviemouth’s point).
I wonder if I might like it more on rewatch. My friend and I sure hated it when we saw it in the theater.

I really enjoyed Ghostbusters II. Saw it in the theater on release. The underground train/subway sequence was really creepy and done well.

I didn't get the hate for it when it was released, it wasn't great but it was decent fun. Which is pretty much how I felt about the original, it wasn't the genius classic most people have made it out to be; it was a fun comedy and nothing more really.

How would you compare 2 to the remake?

How would you compare 2 to the remake? It is a fucking masterpiece compared to the "remake." The remake is one of the most unfunny comedies I have ever seen. Say what you want about II, but at least it is well made from a technical stand-point. That movie has terrific creepy atmosphere. 2016 forgot that Ghostbusters is suppose to feel like a horror movie.
