Giants have the day off after two very tough losses against the Dodgers. The Giants had soooooo many chances in those two games, yet just could not get the big hit.
Hopefully, it's just a couple of bad games, and not the start of a decline. They are headed to Arizona for 4 games, so if there are struggles there, trouble may be brewing. We shall see.

Cardinals leading Diamondbacks 2-0 top of 3rd. I think I heard this past weekend that up to that point, those were the two teams with the worst records in June. Just what the doctors ordered for the Redbirds.

I have faith in the Giants. There's nothing about their game that makes me believe that they are going to falter much. Padres are currently 5.5 up on the Cubs for the second wild card slot. As long as two of those NL West teams don't take the other one behind the woodshed for the second half of the season, I think there is a real good shot that the NL West has three playoff participants.

On the contrary, I don’t have much faith in the Giants. Maybe I’m underestimating them, but I don’t think they have as much talent as the Dodgers and Padres, and I think the Giants have played above their talent level - their lineup is aging for the most part and I don’t see them being able to keep up with the Dodgers and Padres. I do think it’s likely the NL West has 3 playoff teams, but I don’t think the Giants will win the NL West and I have a hard time seeing them as a World Series caliber team.

Just what the doctors ordered for the Redbirds. That is unbelievable considering the Cardinals took the best hitter from the Diamondbacks (Goldsmith) and from the Rockies (Arenado)

Kyle Schwarber with 16 home runs in something like a 25 game span.
The only other guys to have such a streak? Well, there are 3. You got Sammy Sosa in 1998, Mark McGwire in 1999, and Barry Bonds in 2001.
Hmmmm.......🤔🤔🤔

First time I watch Ohtani pitches from the beginning of the ball game. He could not find the strike zone.

Ohtani with a very rough outing in the Bronx. 7 earned runs in two-thirds of an inning. His ERA jumped up almost an entire run. The four walks didn't help.

Trea Turner with a cycle on his birthday as the Nats crush the Rays.
That is the 3rd cycle of Turner's short career, which ties him for the most all-time.
Is it me, or is Trea Turner incredibly underrated?

The Nats are playing real good ball and are suddenly a big part of the NL East race. Moving your best home run hitter into the leadoff spot seems pretty kooky to me, but the Nats have been on fire since putting Schwarber there.

I'm not saying it makes sense - - I still look at them and aren't quite sure how they are doing it - - but I don't think you can have the third best run differential halfway through the season and be a fraud. I do think the Dodgers win the west, though. They've basically played the whole season without Seager-Betts-Muncy-Bellinger-Turner together and that could be changing soon.
