Trea Turner with a cycle on his birthday as the Nats crush the Rays. That is the 3rd cycle of Turner's short career, which ties him for the most all-time. Is it me, or is Trea Turner incredibly underrated? It isn't a complete disaster because Wil Myers has been more than serviceable and the Pads now have Tatis, but making Trea Turner the "player to be named later" in the three-way deal between the Nats, Rays, and Padres was really awful GMing.

Soto gets most of the attention but Turner is a 5 tool player.

Jays battling the Mariners again. Matz pulled from the game early due to injury. That game was unwatchable. Worst announcing i have ever encountered. YouTube should not be allowed to cover Baseball. They had 5 announcers all talking at the same time and they were not even at the game. They were sitting on a sofa in the studio. The entire game they referred to Taylor Trammell as Tyler Trammell. At least the Mariners won. |

At least the Mariners won. Yeah, I caught some of it and you're totally right. You know who else has terrible announcers - the Braves. They're the typical "when the Braves win, it's because they're amazing, and when they lose, it's because they let the other team win" homers. Other than Tom Glavine waxing poetic about deGrom the other day, I am not sure I've ever seen anyone in that booth compliment an opposing player. It's actually really annoying. Granted, I don't hear them every day but I do like to hear the opposing team's announcers from time to time just to get a different take on what's going on and every single time I tune in to that booth, it's always just gushing over the Braves and shitting on everyone else. During yesterday's game, before the onslaught really took hold, they spent about 5 minutes ball-fondling Max Fried and his incredible ability to hold a particular runner at 1st. The runner - Vince Coleman Pete Alonso. Shit like that grinds my gears. Max Fried is capable of being a good pitcher, we've all seen it, and sure he is adept at controlling the running game, but for shit's sake, I could hold Alonso at first. The catcher would have to die in order for him to purposefully advance to second base on a ball that gets away.

In April-May, he tossed 20 innings, giving up just 2 runs (1 earned), 6 hits (62 ABs) with 38 Ks and looked as sharp as ever. In 8.2 June innings, he has given up 11 earned runs and has only fanned 11 batters. Yuck. Whatever malaise has befallen the Yankees has been contagious throughout their team.

The rule about a pitcher batting for himself in an A.L. game should be changed to let him (cough, Ohtani) stay in the game as the DH if he's lifted.
