at the same time?
I just came across a Youtube video that mentioned the twist at the end of Serenity made the movie even worse. I'd argue it made the movie dumber, but it is also the only reason anyone would ever recommend the movie. It turns the movie from forgettable and boring, to one of the most insanely ridiculous bad movies ever.

Not sure if Arlington Road falls in this category.

Not sure if Arlington Road falls in this category. For me it doesn't. I love the ending of that movie in every possible way. It is one of the most unsettling final acts of any movie imo. Whether it makes complete sense is a different question.

Maybe Signs? I thought the twist ending was so utterly asinine that it was almost brilliant.

There is a great video about it on Youtube. It actually makes a lot of sense, considering the faith aspect of the movie.

For once I have a good answer: What Dreams May Come. Sorry to spoil it but every major character turns out to be a family member in disguise.

Been a while. Which family member is Max Von Sydow? The son I was thinking Cuba Gooding Jr. was the son, or are they both the son?

I was thinking Cuba Gooding Jr. was the son, or are they both the son? I checked. I had it wrong. The doctor was a sort of spirit guide and Cuba Gooding Jr.'s character was his son. I recall that every non-white character turned out to be a family member which was pretty strange.

I'm pretty sure I'm with the "consensus" when I say the twist at the end of NO WAY OUT made it totally stupid, obviously worse.
Best twist of all time was of course AMBUSH AT TOMAHAWK GAP.

For me its all about Primal Fear. That movie's actually on the bad side, right up until the last five minutes where Ed Norton delivers what has to be one of the best about faces in movie history. It makes the whole movie better in that single moment, and it establishes his career, all in one fell swoop. Worse, because the whole movie should have been as good as those last five minutes.

To most of the people who have posted on this thread so far: You guys know there are spoiler tags, right? 😂 at the same time? I just came across a Youtube video that mentioned the twist at the end of Serenity made the movie even worse. I'd argue it made the movie dumber, but it is also the only reason anyone would ever recommend the movie. It turns the movie from forgettable and boring, to one of the most insanely ridiculous bad movies ever. Agreed.

SCREAM OF FEAR--This is often mentioned as one of Hammer's best films, but I think the twist is contrived because it implies a character pretends to be something they aren't--even when they are alone. And I feel it is gimmicky.
This twist is different--when the T-rex appears at the end of Jurassic Park it is certainly a cool twist, but the fact she materialized out of thin air is not. There was no way to sneak into that room without the raptors and humans being aware.

It makes more sense if the aliens in the film are drunk teenagers from whatever planet.
