Mission: impossible 2 is a blast and basically a silly action movie version of Alfred Hitchock's Notorious. It is John Woo's imitation of a Michael Bay movie, but more fun and with less moronic humor. Tom Cruise had asked Michael Bay to direct, but there was scheduling conflict or something. 7/10
Die Another Day is fun too, though it jumps the shark in the later parts of the movie and Halle Berry is up there with the worst Bond girls. On the other hand it is Pierce Brosnan's best performance as Bond. I actually appreciate how ridiculous it gets though and the ice hotel is very cool. 6/10

Hard decision. I'll have to give the edge to Die Another Day. Tom Cruise just isn't as comfortable playing a spy as Pierce.

Both are awful.
Mission Impossible 2 was basically like a 2 hr shampoo commercial featuring Tom Cruise. It was a vanity project for Cruise. I never liked Woo's style of action.
DAD is one of the worst Bond movies ever made. Abysmal CGI, Halle Berry was miscast as Bond girl and Brosnan looked like shit performing action scenes. I always thought he was the worst Bond. If I had to say something positive about DAD, it would be the presence of Rosamund Pike.

Hmm, not really a fan of either one. But I guess Die Another Day because it's more memorably stupid. MI2 has some crazy stuff near the end though.

The first two acts of MI:2 are excruciatingly boring and Cruise is so arrogant and unlikeable that you wish the bad guy would capture him and torture him to death in slow-motion. The finale has some good action scenes though.
Die Another Day is one of those so bad it's almost good type of films. Very silly and over-the-top, but entertaining.

MI 2 solely because they featured some really nice Triumph motorcycles (although racing street bikes on dirt doesn't make a lot of sense). I remember the local Triumph/BMW motorcycle dealership did a nice tie in/sales promotion.  |
