Who's the 50 year old black private dick that's still a sex machine to all the chicks? (Shaft!)
Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review:
Shaft (1971) - 3 out of 4 stars
"Slick, upbeat entertainment has Ernest Tidyman's black private-eye John Shaft hired to find kidnapped daughter of Harlem ganglord. Heavy doses of sex and violence professionally packaged by director Parks. Isaac Hayes' theme won Oscar. Followed by two sequels and a TV series. Remade (very loosely) in 2000."

A fun movie for its time. Unfortunately, it led to a pair of bad sequels and a slew of terrible knockoffs.

Saw it only once. Liked the one with Samuel L. Jackson a bit more.

I think more people are used to the Samuel L. Jackson films than the original which was a big film for cinema starring black actors.

There was a thread that asked what film had the most imitations and my reply was Shaft. Damn right!
