Not considered one of Disney's best but I remember enjoying it. It also has a slapping Henry Mancini score

I pretty much love it. It was criticized when it came out for not needing to be animated. And basically, yes, it could’ve been a live-action Sherlock Holmes movie with not too many script changes. But it’s a fun Sherlock Holmes movie, with a lot for every character to do, and it’s got Vincent Price as Moriarty! (Who can ask for anything more?) Some great lines and jokes. Also, as you say, wonderful score and songs. The following is one of the best Disney villain songs ever:

I was only a baby when it was released but recall it being advertised regularly on the VHS tapes I rented growing up. Still haven't gotten round to seeing it, but with Disney Plus I now have that opportunity.

First saw this in Theaters in Summer 1986. I had planned on seeing HAUNTED HONEYMOON with the men in my family, but the trailers of Gene Wilder going nuts turned me off, so I figured I'd see TGMD with the women, thinking it would be gentler. What I got was Fidget's scary close-ups, Basil's mood swings, and Ratigan going feral (HH could not touch it in scariness). I fell in love with the film in its video release in Summer 1992. Wanting to see more, I looked to any Sherlock Holmes film. By the end of the year I had seen the Rathbone-Bruce DRESSED TO KILL, THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES, and THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES (ironically enough, 1992 was the Basil Rathbone Centennial, and I looked to Basil and Dawson as designed from Rathbone & Bruce), the Woodward-Hillerman HANDS OF A MURDERER, the Plummer-Mason MURDER BY DECREE, and the Jeremy Brett-Burke/Hardwicke Granada series and movies THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES and THE SIGN OF FOUR.

It’s a fun sit made more memorable thanks to the battle of wits between the hero and villain. The end fight set inside and atop Big Ben is still exciting.

It's probably the purely fun movie in the Disney canon.

I enjoy it. Fun story and characters. Vincent Price is awesome as the villain.

A good introduction to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle if you're a kid.

I was curious about for years due to price's involvement but didn't see it until about 10 years ago.
The Rathbone scene took me by surprise--I didn't figure he would be in it obviously.
First use of cgi-assisted cel animation for the clock sequence.
Toby was well-used.
