I pick 1971, only because I absolutely hate Johnny Depp's performance. He makes the film nearly unwatchable to me, which is too bad because everything else about it works fine.

Pretty close for me. I don't hate Depp's performance, but it is a mixed bag and he's what holds the movie back for me.
Willy Wonka - 7/10

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
I don't mind Johnny Depp's performance, but Wilder is definitely better and the remake suffers from bigger problems than Depp's performance. The tacked on backstory is the biggest problem I have with the movie.
