They’re both really hard to compare in my opinion and this is why to me. The original kind of plays out like a Universal monster movie in a way. It’s a fun movie, but it’s not really anything too scary.
The remake I felt tried to remove itself too much from the original. Which is fine, but I felt like once he stepped out of the teleporter and was still a human it really knocked the audience who saw the original for a loop cause everyone was expecting him to have switched heads with the fly. It wasn’t until much later you could tell what they were actually trying to do with this movie.
It’s one of the few remakes where I’m glad I can say that they changed so much, but also makes it hard to compare the 2. I guess if I really had to choose though I’d pick the remake.
