In 2019, Shatner seemed skeptical of the idea of "resurrecting" Kirk after his death in Star Trek Generations. "That word, 'resurrect.' That's a key word. Resurrect," he told ComicBook.com. You'd have to resurrect me, Shatner, in order to do the daily. I don't know what Patrick is doing doing that. Doing a series is debilitating for a young guy, for a 25-year-old, which I was doing when I was 25 years old. It's a physical wrecker, it's a mental wrecker, and it's a homewrecker 'cause you're working 14, 18 hours a day. And in the last series I did, Boston Legal, I had, in rush hour, a two-hour commute. So add that. So no, I would not be interested in doing a series, per se."

Those films were an obscenity as far as I'm concerned. Shoehorning Nimoy into the stories was a minor issue by comparison.

Everybody needs money from time to time, even those who we think of as very successful actors. I'm sure Nimoy was paid well for his time and I don't blame him one bit for taking the money and running even if his former friend "doesn't respect" it and even if social media weighs in - as it always does - in negative terms. Screw 'em.

The cameo in Into Darkness was lame, but the 2009 film? I don't see a problem with it. Original Spock is integral to the plot.

Didn’t Leonard Nimoy claim that the 2009 film would be the last time he’d play Spock? How much did they offer him to make him change his mind?

This from the guy who was in that STAR TREK GENERATIONS (I think I have the name right?), and told the wardrobe department to try to give him a costume the would flatten his abs/broaden his shoulders after he realized what good shape Patrick Stewart was in, and that he would be spending a good chunk of time standing right next to Stewart. I don't think Shatner has any room to talk smack about the late Nimoy agreeing to be in the Kelvin Timeline films (Which he's excellent in, and while I love the 2009 and find BEYOND to be one of my 2 favourite Trek films- Nimoy is one of the few good things about INTO DARKNESS).
