What do you all think of this movie? A forgotten comedy film for both star Sylvester Stallone (Happy 75th!) and director John Landis. Stallone has never had the best track record for comedies (Rhinestone, Stop! or My Mom Will Shoot!), but this seems to be his best comedy out of all the ones he has done (not saying much of course). Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: Oscar (1991) - 2.5 out of 4 stars"Stallone is surprisingly enjoyable in a comic change-of-pace, playing 1930s gangster Angelo "Snaps" Provolone, who's trying to go straight, despite the domestic and financial chaos that surrounds him. Farcical comedy, complete with mistaken identities and slamming doors, offers showcases for Palminteri as Snaps' henchman, Curry as a priggish speech teacher, Bracken as a stuttering stoolie, and Shearer and Ferrero as the Finuccis but never quite takes wing. Based on a French play, filmed before in 1967 with Louis de Funes."

I saw it shortly after its release and enjoyed it, but considering that I was only about ten years old back then I don't know how I would feel about it today.

I simply love this movie, I wish Sly had tried comedy a bit more but with more skilled directors of the genre such as Landis. I really need to get around to upgrading to the Bluray, I like it that much.

Stallone was good. The supporting cast was good- including Marisa Tomei and Tim Curry. And a fun opening credit sequence with an animated Italian guy singing along to The Barber of Seville. Yes, I had to look that up.
