By discovery, I mean uncovering some sublime truth that should be apparent to anyone but which only a true genius can see. It's the kind of event where someone points out a simple solution to a seemingly intractable problem and you afterwards scratch your head and ask, "Why didn't I see that?" One example might be the heliocentric organization of our solar system; it's nice and super-simple if planets go around the Sun, not the Earth. The development of algebra is perhaps another case. But you've been waiting for the greatest mathematical discovery of the 20th Century, and here it is:  Check it out and then ask yourself this: "Why didn't I see that?" I had to look it up since I'm not as mathematically inclined. 4! means 4x3x2x1...which equals 24
