By discovery, I mean uncovering some sublime truth that should be apparent to anyone but which only a true genius can see. It's the kind of event where someone points out a simple solution to a seemingly intractable problem and you afterwards scratch your head and ask, "Why didn't I see that?" One example might be the heliocentric organization of our solar system; it's nice and super-simple if planets go around the Sun, not the Earth. The development of algebra is perhaps another case.
