The 1979 movie should have been subtitled: I Was Drop Dead Handsome Male Model Dracula. It made Langella a star and I'm sure women swooned over him just as much as they ogled Lugosi in 1931. Despite some interesting visuals and a good score, the film is forgettable.

If you want a scary Dracula, you cannot beat Legosi. You can't. Impossible. I've seen lots of DRACULA movies, he's still the only one I find scary. (Oldman is creepy as Dracula, I'll grant you, but not give you nightmares and make you wary of walking in the dark alone for a couple nights after watching the movie- no) The whole style used to make the 1931 movie was perfect for creating a frightening villain. The use of music/silence, the lighting, the costuming, and of course- their star.
