Would that Rashford penalty even have counted if he'd scored? He completely stopped on the run up... I know you can stutter but completely stop? Is there a rule against it?

Have to question a 17year old on the final penalty for England. Not very wise by Southgate that. 19 year old

Why are most of the English players removing their second-place medals right away? Seems very rude.

You're allowed to stutter in the run up - not as you're about to strike the ball though. Not sure about Rashford's effort though, like I said I think it was a complete stop. Regardless, just run up and smash it in a corner - what an idiot!

They should get them in the change room afterwards. Humiliating to expect players who've just lost the biggest game of their lives to get up and get what would feel like a participation medal at that moment in front of a huge crowd.

Okay final. Not many clear-cut chances. I think Italy took better penalties overall and deserved their victory.

Fabulous match; both teams played well. You should never stutter step before a penalty as you take the power away from your shot.

Lineker just questions whether the Italian defenders performances were "too unbelievable"!
Bit weird dropping that accusation live on the BBC 😲.

I'm glad England lost. I hate this type of defensive football. After the early lead they had the momentum on their side. It could've been such a beautiful match. Spectacular, offensive. But no, it became a frustrating slog. England had to follow Southgate's idiotic defensive strategy. Instead of creating more chances for themselves they did their best to destroy the Italian's game, but the Azzurri bounced back. Well done Italy!
As for England, let's hope frustrated fans aren't going to burn down half of London.

Turning it off. PKs should never decide a final match of this magnitude. NHL has it right. They should play till they drop. But make it sudden death, not 30 minutes a go. I like this better. A fair chance for both. A sudden death seems to me unfair. Their was a sudden death rule called golden goal, That's how we won in 1996. It was weird, and even some players didn't realize the situation. Only weird in that it is not how it's been. Players not knowing the rule, which would be explained to them and reiterated after 120 and extra time expire, is no excuse. I see no way that it is unfair. A keeper having to guess direction of a PK is unfair. Moving the PK spot 3 m back would help some.

Moving the PK spot 3 m back would help some. 3m back! It was more than far enough away for the England strikers!
