Terry Moore (aka. Jan Ford, Judy Ford, January Ford)
Child actress Terry Moore was all set to become a major star of the comic fantasies of the 1940s had they continued into the 1950s, but alas, they didn't. She had more luck in crime cinema, acting in film noir thrillers like 'Shadowed' (1946), 'Two Of A Kind' (1950), 'Gambling House' (1951) and 'Shack Out On 101' (1955).
The original noir cycle had also petered out by the close of the decade, with Richard Fleischer's 'Violent Saturday' (1955) and Robert Wise's 'Odds Against Tomorrow' (1959) bookending the period where Moore's career transitioned. She did, however, star in one of the great British crime movies of the decade, the evocative pulp thriller 'Portrait Of Alison' (1955).
Like her contemporary Carroll Baker, Moore was an experienced performer held in limbo by the studio system. She enjoyed enduring support from her friend Glenn Ford and acted alongside old stagers like Fredric March, Fred Astaire, Dana Andrews and Burt Lancaster. She was also cast with a new breed of dangerous-to-know actor including Audie Murphy, Lee Marvin, Robert Wagner and Sal Mineo (she dated Mineo's friend James Dean in the early 1950s).
Moore was meant to be paired in a musical with her friend Elvis Presley, but instead ended up with Pat Boone.

PEYTON PLACE bad girl too... MAN ON A TIGHTROPE was a good one though. WHY MUST I DIE? is absolutely priceless - a road company I WANT TO LIVE! with Terry as Susan Hayward and Capri panted Debra Paget the flint hearted broad who frames her. I'm sure there was one where she got eaten alive by a shark!!!!! The one I'd like to see is this one if anyone knows of a source Can't believe she has just starred in a film about Valentino's Lady In Black - with sherilyn Fenn, Isabella Rossellini and Franco Nero as "the spirit of Valentino"

This looks good, 'Why Must I Die?' Thanks for the recommendation. Terry Moore excelled in Crane Wilbur's cautionary hot-rod 'The Devil On Wheels' (1947) about illegal drag racing - "What do you want, high blood pressure?" - "It gave me the wammies, she's a dilly".
Did you see her with Jimmy Durante in 'The Great Rupert' (1950)? George Pal put them with a Scottish squirrel.

Thanks for putting Terry Moore up front. So many actresses, they feels like they were easily forgotten, and Terry is still around too! I might be one of the few who still haven't seen that gorilla movie. Maybe her career best, Come Back Little Sheba 1952

She made a few musicals like 'Sunny Side Of The Street' (1951) with Frankie Laine. Here she is with Mickey Rooney with whom she made 'Summer Holiday' (1948), 'He's A Cock-Eyed Wonder' (1950) and 'Platinum High School' (1960).

I saw her in Mighty Joe Young, Man on a Tightrope, King of the Khyber Rifles, Peyton Place, and apparently she was in Gaslight.

She might have played a young Ingrid Bergman in 'Gaslight' (1944).
