I love the 2004 version. Haven't seen the 1987 movie.

I didn’t care for the 2004 movie. Truthfully thought it was boring. I expect the original to be more of the same.

The 2nd half of the 2004 version was pretty awful. Haven’t seen the 1987 version.

Both are mediocre but the 2004 one has a slight edge simply due to being more bonkers.

Denzel all the way. That's a fun one to watch.

I haven't seen the original but the remake is fascinating in a somewhat bad way. First of all, the whole story revolves around him getting revenge and then it turns out not to be what you assume. They cheat you-but I knew they would do that because--no body?
Also, it seemed a little strange to me that the wife was so willing to go along with Creasy's intentions for the husband. But it does have a great line spoken by Walken: "he's an artist of death, and he's about to paint his masterpiece."

Okay, I watched the original from 1987, and it wasn't good. It's an often mentioned piece of trivia that the producers originally wanted to hire Tony Scott, but decided against it saying he was too unexperienced. So they went with Elie Chouraqui, who clearly had no clue how to direct an action movie. The movie is so dark that you can barely make out what's happening in some scenes. Glenn is solid, but Jonathan Pryce and Danny Aiello barely register. Joe Pesci is one of the few bright spots, you even get to see him playing the guitar and singing.
4/10

Didn't watch the 1987 crap but the 2004 film was the worst Denzel Washington movie ever. Can't remember a thing in that movie other than Stewie Fanning being annoying.
