I don't necessarily have the highest of hopes for the movie, or expectations really. If it's good I'll be happy, but I'm not especially invested in a non Wes Craven Scream movie.
But I'm a huge Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds fan, and I always thought it was really cool that Craven appeared to be also. I didn't realize til I rewatched it later that he even made a new version of the song for Scream 3, which was a very cool gesture on his part too.

And yeah, I am not hyping myself up too hard for this movie either. If it turns out to be good, then great! But so many recent attempts at rebooting or reclaiming (or whatever) nostalgia-laden franchises have ended in disappointment that I just don't have the energy to invest myself in it. I have no doubt these new filmmakers are capable of something great, but it's hard to call it Scream if neither Wes or Kevin are involved.

Think I'll rewatch some of this franchise once it hits on demand for October...
I loathed part 3. But years later I *got* what they were trying to do with it. Dark side of Hollywood, meta, etc.
And while it's still not my favorite entry I've mellowed on it a bit.
I'm interested in how they will spin this new movie... If the trio will be a major or minor part. Will they be playing themselves Ala "New Nightmare"? Etc.

I guess. Maybe they're just trying to down play it, but from the way this trailer is depicting it there doesn't seem to be much fun or humor to be found. The tone of the trailer seems to lean on dour seriousness and is almost somber. Maybe that's the intent and it's meant to be like some of these A24 or other art-house horror movie of recent years, but if that's the approach to the satire this time that's an odd choice. I would have thought that the filmmakers behind Ready or Not would have done something more entertaining and darkly funny. Then again, it's just a trailer and their trying to avoid giving too much away, so reading too much into it is probably a mistake.

I personally felt like there wasn't much new it had to offer from looking at it, but giving okay too much may ruin the surprise. We'll just have to find out.

I will admit, I like seeing the old house again and the connection between the victims and the murderers from the original has my interest, but I'm getting strong Force Awakens vibes from this one. Lots of "hey, remember this moment you liked from the original? Here it is, but a little different!"
Having said that, my butt will still be in the theater seat for this come January regardless.

It could very well be, then again that could be the point. Showing us the same moments but slightly different might actually be their approach to commenting on far-too-late sequels... who knows? The title seems to be a reference to the new Halloween. It doesn't make much sense, but it didn't in that case either.

I didn't think Ready or Not was quite the hot shit everyone else did, so I'm tempering my expectations a bit here.

The trailer makes it look pretty average, but perhaps they didn't want to give away all the best scenes. Let's hope there will be some surprises.
I'm not against a more serious approach, because I thought part 4 was a bit too goofy for its own good, plus the whole homage and meta stuff seems to have been done to death by now.
To be fair, I've no idea what new they could do with the franchise at this point. I'm actually hoping for a decent whodunit like the first one. The killer's reveals in the sequels were all rather disappointing.

I liked Ready or Not for the most part, but whatever my gripes with that movie may or may not be I think the tone was distinctly fun and humorous while also being intense and threatening, and that's exactly right for Scream. The fact that the trailer didn't convey that at all of this movie was a bit odd to me.

Watching the trailer. It had me intrigued, more so than the previous outing.
