I haven't seen it nearly as much as the first few, but according to Wes Craven she was still moving when she was last shown. Of the two I prefer Matthew Lillard's character but his death was pretty fucking clear and unambiguous no matter what Kevin Williamson says. I remember hearing that idea, and I'm glad they didn't use it. Apparently a "microscopic twitch of the face". www.horrorsociety.com/2011/10/07/does-scream-4-commentary-reveal-possible-scream-5-spoilers/Eh. I feel about Wes' idea the same as you about Kevin's. And without even bringing back Sidney, dusting off her evil cousin is even more pointless. I don't know what kind of movement was, I just saw that on Twitter years ago Craven said she was still moving when we last saw her. I thought she died too, but he made it seem that his original intent was that she didn't. Frankly, whatever they do next is probably gonna seem lame to me. But if that was the intent then at least it's not just retroactively pretending that what we all know happened didn't actually happen. And at this point it really would make even less sense that Stu being alive has never come up before in the course of 25 years. I didn't love this last one, but the way they brought Skeet (what a stupid name) back was at least not so egregious. Really, I don't need to see another one at all anyway. I'm sure I'll see it, but I don't think there are a lot of new exciting ideas to be mined here anymore. But without going back to see the context of Emma Roberts death scene, I think the return of Stu would piss me off more.

He opted not to shoot Jill in the head and left in a "microscopic twitch of the face" (so microscopic I personally don't see it) just in case he ever decided to bring her back. Hayden's character is more definitively moving last we see her. But honestly, I don't care what last minute What If moves he pulled, Jill's story is over, especially now that Sidney isn't even in these movies. I asked my friend who is following Scream news a bit more closely about this, and the rumor started because Emma Roberts said she was open to return and her fans have clung to that hoping she will. So it's basically the same story as Stu/Lillard fans (only Wes and co went so far as to give him actual money to return for the third movie, and since KW originally pitched Scream with outlines for the next two, maybe Stu was always meant to return, but I don't know for certain). I wasn't a fan of ghost Billy. I mean, digitally deaged Skeet in a mirror supernaturally pointing his daughter to weapons she can use? That's bending reality worse than a guy surviving a TV on the head (and people have survived worse electrocutions in real life). And since Billy's daughter is the new lead, at least she'd have some connection to Billy's accomplice whereas none of these new characters have one to Jill.

Funny that that link is referencing 'Kirby' not 'Jill,' which is to say Hayden Panettiere and not Emma Roberts. Turns out that's what the thing I saw was referencing as well. And we already know that Hayden Panettiere is coming back for the next one, so that's what that's all about, and she is actually still moving. And I looked up Emma Roberts' death scene and she most certainly is fucking dead. But so is Stu. He's bleeding out and has his head crushed by an old tube TV, which if you've ever tried to carry one of those up several flights of stairs you'd know that they're extremely heavy.. and then on top of all that he's electrocuted. And then on top of all of that, if he somehow survived against all logic and reason, it stretches beyond logic and reason that nobody has made mention of him for a quarter century. It would be absurd. I'm guessing it'll be some other random person who has some dubious relationship to some old character, and that Hayden Panettiere will be living in New York. As far as Skeet goes, yeah it's kinda dumb, but it was just a way to show his face without cheating too much. I don't think anybody thinks he's meant to literally be there or to be of any actual consequence, she's having a delusional vision, not an actual psychic/ghost kinda thing.

It references both, the Jill stuff comes after the Kirby stuff. Those old TVs were heavy bitches, but he's still screaming while he gets electrocuted so presumably it didn't crush his head. No one mentioning him in four movies in the midst of seven copycats is pretty damn dumb, though. There's a video on Richie's computer asking if the real Stu survived, which is the closing thing to a reference. I didn't think so, but the delusional vision does tell her where to find a weapon before she sees it.

Scream was called "Scary Movie" and 2 "Scream: The Sequel" through most of their production. I'll be surprised if "Scream !!" sticks.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume Samara is the big opening victim.
